It’s difficult to understand this notebook for someone who doesn’t share the same background and daily life with the artist. This work is filled with habits and daily life representations and is shape like a metaphorical window on the life of a young man from Dakar which is made by school, meetings with friends and soccer matches. The artist however doesn’t limit to tell his story, but he turns every single part of his life into an opportunity to start a reflection about macroscopical matters. In that way soccer become a metaphor for participating, going to school turns into the importance of learning which leads to develop consciousness and critical thinking and in the same way other big themes like religion and job are inquired. Every place is represented as a meeting place and a daily meeting leads people to think about themselves as part of something so simply staying together pushes people to reflect about the future of a united Africa.
