Would the West actually be happier with less? The world downscaled This project is dedicated to Ivan Illich, 2009

My work on the Moleskine is a reflection on the growth and sustainability of our future development, inspired by the essay The good news by Ivan Illich, post-development and degrowth as a necessity in convivial society by Serge Latouche.

(Livorno, Italy 1971) Lives and works in Castell'Anselmo, Italy

Drawing on an in-depth analysis of the ‘Arte Povera’ conceptual fundamentals, in particular on the concepts of energy, process, empty and full, negative and positive, banality, repetition, and so on, Michelangelo Consani focuses on a wide range of environmental projects, which have sparked his interest in contemporary physical and scientific theories. ‘Environmental’, however, refers to a broadened concept of action in reality, which is not limited to established artistic genres, but is intended as a direct multidisciplinary action, so to speak, in both the collective and individual material and imagination.
