Hsia-Fei Chang results from a generation that received a teaching borrowed from several cultures. This visual artist followed an educational path marked by generations of artists active in a number of creative fields. Hsia-Fei briskly passes from an expression to another. Her practice of various mediums is thus between performance, installation, film amateur, video, photography. Hsia-Fei Chang’s work is less concerned with reclaiming an identity than with challenging the stereotypes constraining women in Western societies; she appropriates different female profiles to disrupt viewers’ assumptions.
