One of the greatest human inventions of all time was written language, and with books, we can communicate complex ideas and feelings. Now that we have video games, we can place someone inside another person, and they can live out their experiences. As we create more complex and visceral ways to feel empathy for other humans, we will grow closer together and find ways to overcome any obstacle in our way.

Candace Bolton is a self-taught, California based artist who creates artwork that is candy to the eye and the soul. Candie’s Chinese heritage helped influence their career at an early age as she focused on Asian Studies in college. Both traditional and modern Asian art continue to be a source of inspiration for them. Her professional career started with graphic design at a local Hot Rod shop, where she was inspired by lowbrow art and led to their eventual emergence in the toy scene as she began airbrushing and producing vinyl toys in 2014. Candie is best known for their unique and creative “SOFUBI”, or soft vinyl toys. She specializes in painting and designing “SOFUBI” and has produced designs for amazing brands including Sanrio and Medicom. Candie’s work has been nominated for several awards including “Best Sofubi” and even took home the award for “Best Licensed” for their Sanrio design by the Designer Toy Awards in 2020.
